"Land of the Great Spirit"

WALDO S. CHASE     (Amer. 1895-1988)

color woodcut,     1931

small ed. 12 1/2 x 7."

$1950.

Excellent colors and embossing (gauffrage) in the snow area of the mountains; mat line, matted out. Brother of Corwin. The Chase brothers taught themselves the art of the color woodcut in the mid 1920's using Frank Morley Fletcher's manual and produced magnificent color woodblocks for only about ten years. I've also seen this print, printed by Corwin, and titled "Indian Henry's" and dated 1929.
